Half Elf: The Elven Outcast
Half elves are the fruit of the union between any of the three ancient
elven races and a human. Their height can range anwhere from that of the
shorter wood elf or dark elf to that of a human. The more delicate elven
facial structure and carry through and they have pointed ears although
their physique more closely resemble humans in build. This blend of features
creates perhaps one of the most exquisitely beautiful races on Norrath.
Caught between cultures, half elves possess no common heritage and in
order to attain their own identify, half elves have embraced out-landish
hair styles and garb as they thumb their noses at all their forebears:
the elegant high elves, the disciplined dark elves, the free-spirited,
nature-loving wood elves and the balanced, conservative humans in one
fell swoop. Half elves are natural born scouts and excel at it with their
exceptionally high agility. But their intelligence have also led many
down the path of the mage..

Background:
Offspring of humans and three different elven races, half elves in of
themselves as a group are a mixed bunch. Possessing no heritage of their
own, Half elves were viewed as inferior their elven ancestors who viewed
them as a taint upon the purity of their respective races. Although the
wood elves were more accepting and humans did not care one way or the
other, half elves have long been forced to exist outside the boundaries
of polite elven society. They were mostly content to live in the human
cities or to embrace their woodland heritage. With the influx of refugees
into the cities however, half elves have come to feel displaced from the
only way of life they knew. Feeling alienated as a result, they began
refer to themselves as Ayr'Dal, a term derived from the old elven word
for "misfit." Though often used by dark elves and high elves
as an insult, the half elves have embraced the word as a symbol of their
unique place in the world.
Faith
Many half elves feel abandoned and out of place in the world, and so
choose not to worship any specific deity. Or perhaps in defiance of convention,
they worship any deity they wish. The exceptions are druids, who are respectful
of Nature as a primal force and often devote themselves to Tunare or Karana.
