Freeport to Qeynos Betrayal Guide by Rhonen of the Najena Server

You can start this Quest at level 10 to level 17 but I really do not recommend you activate this quest till at least level 14. I will explain why as you read this. When I give conned descriptions for the mobs in the Freeport area they are conned as a 14th level Druid. When I give conned descriptions for mobs in the Antonica area they are conned as a 16th level Druid.

Note: When I did this Quest I forgot to release my Freeport apartment after completing the cut scene with the Overlord. If this happens to you, do not worry. Just use the bell on the Commonlands dock and go to your apartment and take your stuff out and release your old apartment. If the Guards catch you, they will NOT kill you but just kick you out of Freeport.

Note: When I did this Quest I forgot to quit my trade skill guild and thus I could not join any trade skill guilds in Qeynos. I had to run back to Freeport and avoid the Guards till I could make it to the tradeskill guild inviter NPC and cancel my membership there. This is doable but you need to keep a watch out as always for the Guards. {Editors Note: societies can now be released from your options menu}

When I completed the Betrayers Quest and was a citizen of Qeynos I went to the Steward and did not receive a new "apartment" quest. I just went to the Inn and "checked into" my newbie apartment.

Part ONE: Beginning the Betrayal

Go to East Freeport and seek out Stilus Graphium. Stilus is on the 2nd floor of "The Freeport Observer".

Stilus will tell you to talk to Kenjedeau in the sewers below. Kenjedeau is actually in the Serpent Sewers zone. You can access the Serpent Sewers zone from The Thieves Way via the Big Bend zone in point.

Once in Serpent Sewers there will be a lot of agro mobs at level 14th. In the Serpent Sewers you will first come to a "T" take the left branch. If you take the right branch you’ll meet up with a ton of very nasty casters and you may not survive. The best thing
I can say is to put on your sneakers and run like the blazes until you find Kenjedeau. Kenjedeau is near some other NPC’s in the back a bit. The nice thing about this is that there is a Guard that WILL kill mobs for you if you have a train following you. Providing of course you can survive long enough for the Guard to kill them all before they kill you.

Warning: Read this before talking to Kenjedeau. Once you talk to Kenjedeau you will be ported into an instanced zone. You will have to fight 3 mobs, 2 of which are grouped (at least when I pulled one I got 2 instead). This first group was a Yellow and a Yellow
with a single down arrow. Take these two out and rest up to full strength for the 3rd mob. The 3rd mob is named "The Bonebreaker" he’s only a Yellow with a red outline so he should not be so hard on you.

Note: This is a SOLO encounter. You will not be able to bring in a group for this part of the Quest.

Note: Rogues can simply use stealth and then instance into the solo zone. When in the instance simply stealth around the first 2 mobs and head straight to "The Bonebreaker" and take him out. After this you should be able to open the door to the Overlord.

Note: Thundyr wrote: "I did this last night at lvl 16, Ratonga Rogue. Once I reached the NPC in the sewers, Dejablahblah.. I read carefully, then got to the officers quarters. Had no problems beating the 3 Mobs. Met up with Christopher Lee (err, I mean Lucan) and
made the completely harrowing run through Nek forest. I am now safely camped in Antonica, getting ready to start my wholesale slaughtering of hundreds of lil gnolls..."

Note: A Guildie of mine tried to do this as a 13th level Sorcerer and was wiped out quickly. At 13th level they conned orange to him. However he tried it again at level 14th and had no problems at all.

Note: Once you take out "The Bonebreaker" remove ALL your gear and be totally nakkie for this next part. The reason is that you WILL die and your armor WILL be damaged as per a normal death if you do not remove it before hand.

After you open the door to the cut scene with the Overlord, you WILL loose a spirit shard and WILL take a death hit in this next step. Once all your gear is removed then open the door that Bonebreaker was standing in front of and you will get a scene with the
Overlord. After your dead, you’ll be zoned to the Commonlands.

Note: The loss of the spirit shard with the Overlord is unrecoverable. The lost shard will however regen in about 3 real life days.

Note: There is a mender in the Commonlands at the crossroads. And there is also a mender in Antonica a little past the south tower by a cottage. The Antonica mender is located at a fork in the road, just outside the vendor house on the southern side of the Antonica map, about mid ways from Qeynos Gates to the eastern side of the map. This should help you out if you're in need.

PART TWO: Traveling to Antonica

In the Commonlands you’ll “wakeup” next to "Executioner Selindi" in the graveyard. Careful here for you may be attacked by low level skeletons. Talk to her and she will tell you that you need to go to Antonica and speak with Vishra. Vishra is the main NPC for this entire Quest. You will go and talk to Vishra several times during this very lengthy quest.

After you talk to Executioner Selindi head to the Nektulos Forest zone in point. Once you zone in do NOT take the left-hand path just before bridge. This path will lead you do some nasty Owlbears that have nothing better to do but camp your spirit shard. I tested this in Beta and they camped my shard even in deep water.

Go over the bridge that you see soon as you zone into Nektulos forest and hug the river with your left shoulder till you come to a log bridge. Go over that Log Bridge and you'll get a discovery message for "Behemoth Pond", keep going to the other side and you'll see another Log Bridge.

Go over this bridge and follow the river with it on your right shoulder for a short way. You'll soon come to a road to your left, follow that road westwards. This is a windy road that snakes back and forth but will lead you eventually to a fork in the road, take the LEFT fork and head to "Hidden Beach". When you get to this point keep going westwards till you hit the Nektulos Forest Docks. Ring the Bell and this will take you to "Thundering Stepps".

When you get to "Thundering Stepps" go straight out and take the NW passage. If you follow the mountain with your right shoulder after you leave the dock area you'll get to this passage with no problems. Follow this path till it opens up into a large area. You'll
see a tower straight ahead of you with a road leading off in the distance. That road behind the tower will take you to the Antonica zone-in point.

Warning: When doing this keep a sharp eye out for aggro mobs. Nektulos Forest can be extremely nasty so I advise having your sprint key ready to be pressed and run like the blazes if you need to.

Note: Download maps for Nektulos Forest and Thundering Steppes if you have not already done so. These may be a life saver for you if you get turned around.

PART THREE: Vishra’s Tasks

From where you zone into Antonica, follow the path until you enter the zone proper then just turn left and follow the mountain with your left shoulder. You will go by a few scarecrow fields and shortly thereafter you'll see Vishra's little tent at -1924, -14, -14,577.

Speak with Vishra and you will receive the bulk of the quest items you must complete before you proceed further. You must kill the following:

  • 500 Gnolls,
  • Crugybar The Rock,
  • Nantglas The Cold.
  • Dancord of The Pine,
  • Towyn The Lazy, and
  • Sarn The Wayfarer
Note: The named Gnolls here are level 18. The 500 Gnolls can be any Gnolls you come across. I recommend the newbie Gnolls just north of the North Qeynos Gates. These will be Grey to you but have a decent respawn timer. You don’t get any exp but they mow down quickly and since you have to kill 500, quick is nice.

Note: Korasin of The Order of the Silver Hand wrote: "Besides the grey con gnolls outside of N Qeynos gate you can also use the dock bell (by the Lighthouse) for
travel outside of Qeynos to visit "The Caves" which also have grey spawn solo and group gnolls. I did the 500 yesterday it took like 5 or 6 hours."

Of the 5 named Gnolls, 2 are in Blackburrow and 3 are in Antonica:

1) When you zone into Blackburrow you can find Crugybar The Rock inside the mine area. Find the entrance that has some mine cart tracks and just follow it to the far back area. Just keep to the right and you’ll eventually get to Crugybar’s area.

2) Nantglas The Cold spawns on a little shelf of rock past the place in Blackburrow. If you ever hunted Blackburrow you’ll know this area. If not, when you first zone into Blackburrow and head straight in and you’ll see water and some Angler Gnolls. That is the area. Just follow the water and swim around a small bend to the right and you will find Nintglas standing on the small shelf of rock. There usually are 2 Gnolls and a few rats there as well.

3) Dancord of The Pine Dancoed can be found north of the main Blackburrow entrance inside the forest in which the Fanglord resides. (clarfied by Magnir)

4) Towyn The Lazy spawns on the beach west of Blackburrow. Just follow the southern coast and you’ll find it easy enough.

5) Sarn The Wayfarer spawns on the hillside near The Keep of The Gnollslayers. Just follow the left fork of the road as it passes the Keep like your heading to the Griffy tower, and you’ll see him if he’s up. Vok wrote this concerning Sarn's spawn point: "On Sarn the Wayfarer it seems he has his own camp. At Steppes station (griffion tower) just head dead east of it and you'll see a small encampment."

Note: Mr.Robotto wrote: "Regarding spawns, the mobs seem to spawn at dawn of each day. So we camped spots until dawn came and the mob appeared. Dancoed was the
one mob we believe to actually despawn in the late afternoon, towards evening. Use that in your planning."

Note: All 5 of these Gnolls conned Yellow with 2 up arrows to a 16th Druid.

Note: Please remember that if these mobs are not up in one instance of Antonica or Blackburrow they may be up in another instanced. Check them all and you'll finish this part quickly.

Once you completed this part go talk to Vishra again. Vishra will tell you to go talk to Timothy Cooper.

PART FOUR: Conversations and Slayings

Timothy Cooper can be found on the dock NW of Windstalker Village and North of the Ruins of Caltorais. Lot’s of aggro here so be careful of mobs.

Timothy will tell you to talk to Felzik Dursin.

Warning: Once you finish the conversation with Felzik he will aggro on you and you must kill him. Felzik cons yellow with 2 up arrows to a 16th Druid. Use a decent sized group. All those in the party that need the quest will get credit off of one kill of Felzik.
Felzik can be found near Windstalker Village. I found him wondering around Archer Woods which is near the Windstalker Village and the coast.

Note: Mr.Robotto wrote: "Felzik spawns at dawn at the Western entrance to the Windswept village along the fence line."

Time to talk to Vishra again. Vishra will tell you to speak to Darvin Gallowyn. Do not be coy here and ALWAYS choose correctly if you value your coin purse (There is a 1 GOLD fine if you choose incorrectly). Darvin is located at the Oracle Tower on the top floor. Your log book will update and you will then have to talk to Wolfgang Constantine.

WARNING: Take your time on these conversations. I cannot stress this enough. The fine hit of 1 GOLD is extremely nasty and you cannot continue until you pay it.

Wolfgang Constantine is located at the Claymore Statue south of the two towers which are located east of the north Qeynos gate. Again follow the prompts and choose wisely if you value your pocket book. Again your log will update and you will be directed to talk to Sialla Windwhisper.

Sialla can be found near a tree just north of the Keep of the Gnollslayers. You may have seen her when you went hunting for Sarn. Talk to Sialla and again follow the prompts.

Time to talk to Vishra yet again but this time your getting very close to the end. Vishra tells you to talk to the Magistrate Rachelle and confess your sins.

Outside N. Qeynos Gates you will see two towers. Rachelle spawns on the bottom floor of the more southern of those two towers. If Rachelle is not up she will eventually spawn. Rachelle does not respawn on server up for some reason. Follow the prompts.

Note: Rachelle still did not take any jewelry from me after completing this step. Not sure if this is a bug or not.

Talk to Vishra for the last time and you're now a full citizen of Qeynos.

Congrats!!!
